Loting kwalificatieronde EuroBasket 2021 komende maandag

Er is één afwijking: als een van de vier gastlanden (Tsjechië, Georgië, Italië en Duitsland) zich niet bij die drie hoogst geklasseerde ploegen weet te plaatsen. Dan gaan het gastland en de twee hoogst geklasseerde formaties in de groep door.
Bij de loting wordt gewerkt met een plaatsingssysteem. De Orange Lions zijn zesde geplaatst en kunnen sowieso niet uitkomen tegen de drie andere landen die als zesde zijn ingeschaald, te weten Hongarije, Macedonië en Bosnië & Herzegovina.
De zesde geplaatste landen worden gekoppeld aan de tweede, derde en zevende geplaatste landen en vormen de groepen B, D, F en H. Slovenië, Griekenland, Kroatië en Rusland zijn als tweede ingeschaald. Een van deze landen wordt dus de tegenstander van de Orange Lions. Italië, Letland, Turkije en Oekraïne zitten in de koker van de als derde geplaatste landen. Estland, Bulgarije, Zweden en Oostenrijk zijn ingeschaald als zevende.
De Orange Lions ontmoeten, verdeeld over drie windows, alle landen uit de groep één keer uit en één keer thuis.

The seedings for the draws for the FIBA EuroBasket 2021 Qualifiers and FIBA EuroBasket 2021 Final Rounds are based on the FIBA World Ranking presented by NIKE.
The Qualifiers' field will be completed when the Third Round of the FIBA EuroBasket 2021 Pre-Qualifiers concludes, with the teams facing each other over six game days from August 3-21, 2019. The four group winners will complete the 32 team field for the FIBA EuroBasket 2021 Qualifiers, joining the four teams from the Pre-Qualifiers Second Round and the 24 teams from the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 European Qualifiers Second Round.
The FIBA EuroBasket 2021 Qualifiers will be played across three windows on February 17-25, 2020, November 23-1 December, 2020 and February 15-23, 2021 with two games played by each team in every window, following the rescheduling of the November 2019 window by the FIBA Executive Committee.
Czech Republic, Georgia, Germany, and Italy were confirmed as the four co-host nations of FIBA EuroBasket 2021 at the official announcement ceremony held on Monday, July 15 in Munich. FIBA EuroBasket 2021, the first edition of the event since it moved to a four-year cycle, will take place in the month of September.
