EuroBasket 2015 Courts Unveiled

MUNICH, Germany (EuroBasket 2015) – FIBA, FIBA Europe and Connor Sports unveiled on Monday the five custom-made official courts for EuroBasket 2015.

The courts, created on the portable QuickLock™ wooden surface, feature a special design for each of the five EuroBasket venues – Berlin, Germany; Zagreb, Croatia; Riga, Latvia; Montpellier and Lille, France – using the official tournament colours of each host nation.

This is the second FIBA event in which each competition venue will feature tailor-made courts.
Connor Sports has previously produced for FIBA six unique playing surfaces, one for each of the host cities at the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain.

“For the first time in the event’s history EuroBasket 2015 will take place in four countries and five arenas,” said FIBA Europe President Turgay Demirel, before going on to express that, “These courts capture the unique energy of this tournament, and they will be the perfect setting for this unparalleled basketball excitement.”

FIBA Regional Director Europe Kamil Novak, added: “The duty of FIBA Europe is to help the EuroBasket organisers who have limited time in preparing for this event while at the same time protecting and raising the image of the Championship. We believe that the courts are an excellent opportunity to achieve both objectives at the same time and we are very pleased with the result.”

Connor Sports is part of Connor Sports Court International (CSCI) and has been a FIBA Equipment & Venue Centre Partner since 1994 as well as the Official Technical Supplier of FIBA for the period 2013-2016.

“The organisers have set the highest standards for this year’s EuroBasket, incorporating the latest innovations and taking the competition in exciting new directions. Fans and Federations will notice this in the unified look and customised designs for each host nation, and the players on the court will feel the special performance and safety features built into the portable Connor QuickLock courts,” explained Conner Sport Court International Vice-President Andrew Gettig.
